Behnam Qadri, a 38-year-old Kurdish woman from Pashoh, a sub-district of Piranshahr, was arrested on Saturday, September 28, 2023, after appearing in the city’s Revolutionary Court. She was transferred to a security detention center in Arumieh. The name of the detention center and the charges against her are not yet known.

According to the published information, Behan accompanied his elderly father, Aziz Qadri, to the court. During this visit, he was told that a case had been opened against him; however, no details about the contents of the case were released.

Two days before this arrest, Azar Qadri was also summoned to the Piranshahr Intelligence Department and interrogated for several hours. At the same time as the interrogation, agents visited the Qadri family’s home. According to the published account of this incident, extensive searches of the house were conducted without a warrant and parts of the belongings were destroyed. Azar Qadri’s mobile phone was also seized and he was released after a few hours.

Bayan Qadri is the sister of Mohammad Qadri, a political activist based outside of Iran. Despite reports of pressure on this family, no official reason for her arrest has been announced. The latest report published on September 29 reports his deprivation of a lawyer and access to his family.

Behnam lived with her father and took care of him. In the report regarding her arrest, she is the only person mentioned as the guardian of the father; the father, after being summoned and interrogated, no longer has his daughter by his side.
